It's the Collaboration for me

It’s the Collaboration for me …

Music is a love language for me. I have eclectic tastes, my music ranges from Mary J Blige to Mary Mary, from Jay Z to Jazz, from old school r&b to Neo soul, 90’s hip hop to gospel.   It is one of unique self care practices that recharges my  spirit, revives my body and renews my soul. See what I did right there? (smile)

Many of my favorite albums often are collaborations, when music artists get together to create a masterpiece, Roberta Flack and Donnie Hathaway - The closer I get to you.  Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Ashford and Simpson. One of my favorite albums was the songs of Earth, Wind and Fire. featuring various artists covering EWF songs.  The original is always supreme, but I loved listening to Ledisi’s rendition of Devotion.

It’s the Collaboration for me ……

When I created my Journal, my friend created a personalized tumbler. When she gave it to me, she included as an extra gift some coasters and magnets. I loved it, and we collaborated to have them available at my book signing. When I shared my vision of creating some shirts, my friend Nicci took it and transformed my visions into reality. The beauty is that in collaboration, each of us wins.  I am learning that in the life realm, it is about collaboration, not competition. We were not created to carry this alone.

Moses knew about carrying stuff alone, I cannot begin to imagine all that he had to deal with. Whenever someone needed to speak to the manager, it was Moses.  Moses was the manager.  It was a lot, and Moses literally told God exactly that in Numbers 11:11-15

Moses said to God, “Why are you treating me this way? What did I ever do to you to deserve this? Did I conceive them? Was I their mother? So why dump the responsibility of these people on me? Why tell me to carry them around like a nursing mother, carry them all the way to the land you promised to their ancestors? Where am I supposed to get meat for all these people who are whining to me, ‘Give us meat; we want meat.’ I can’t do this by myself—it’s too much, all these people. If this is how you intend to treat me, do me a favor and kill me. I’ve seen enough; I’ve had enough. Let me out of here.” Numbers 11:11-15

Moses was done and then God came through with the Collaboration - he appointed seventy leaders that would help bear the responsibilities and leadership. These people went on with the responsibilities and the job requirements. Many took this seriously and were ministering and someone saw them and told Moses to stop them.  Moses told them this was not a competition and it was a collaboration.

But Moses said, “Are you jealous for me? Would that all God’s people be prophets? God would put his Spirit on all of them.”

“It’s not about competition. It is about collaboration. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go farther, go together.”

Competition breaks up

Collaboration breaks through

Competition disconnects

Collaboration connects

It’s the Collaboration for me.  How can I increase my service, more collaborations and being available.

It’s the Collaboration for me.

Sheila

Sending you off with Ledisi’s rendition of Devotion , just because it’s on my mind. Interpretations: celebrating the music of Earth, Wind & Fire - a beautiful collaboration.
