Be Kind to Your Mind: Nurturing Your Total Being in Faith

Since I love the Lord with all my heart, my soul and my mind.

Caring for my mental health is necessary for my total being to align

So as we reflect on the importance of World Mental Health Day

Here are some thoughts on the message it can convey

May we have the courage to lift up our mental health in prayer.

May our Amen be walking in the direction of those who offer care.

The Bible is full of passages that call us to seek out those who can advise

Proverbs 12:15 says that the way of a fool is right in their own eyes,

But those who choose to seek and listen to counsel are wise.

I can love Jesus as well as my counselor, therapist and spiritual director too.

They are called, gifted, prepared, anointed and committed to the work they do.

I pray that you seek out these sacred  and necessary spaces,

Caring for mental health is healing in these places

May these surroundings give the courage to acknowledge and speak those

Difficult phrases to say

Like …

I’m not okay

I need help and can’t do this alone

I need community so I’m not on my own.

I need to seek out the expertise of an expert and have an important conversation

I think my healing in addition to therapy, may need medication.

May these surroundings give the courage to follow through on actions that are difficult to do

Like ….

Learning to protect my boundaries by saying No

And realizing that it is a complete sentence when doing so

Knowing that exhaustion is badge of honor that I am no longer using

Taking time to rest and care for myself is the path that I am choosing

Mental Health is a Universal Human Right and a form of caring for my Mind

Caring for my mental health is a part of my total being and natural design

Since I love the Lord with all my heart, my soul and my mind.

Caring for my mental health is necessary for my total being to align

May we have the courage to lift up our mental health in prayer.

May our Amen be walking in the direction of those who offer care.
