Spring Is Not Just A Season, It's a Spiritual Reset Sheila Spencer March 23, 2026 There is something about this season—the shift into spring, the journey through Lent—that is calling me to reset. On March 20, the Spring Equinox marked a moment of balance— equal light and equal night.A gentle reminder that transition is already happening, whether we rush it or not.Not in a hurried way.Not in a pressured way.But in a way that feels intentional… and necessary.Spring is the time when we begin to clean. We open windows. We clear out closets. We let fresh air in.We release what has been sitting too long.We make space. But I’m realizing…this kind of cleaning is not just physical. This is a season to clear out what I’ve been carrying internally. What have I been holding onto that I no longer need? What have I been carrying out of habit… not purpose? What weight am I ready to lay down? This season has been inviting me into a reset. As I move through Lent, I’ve been more aware of the need to slow down,to be intentional, and to return to practices that center me in God’s presence. Not to become someone new—but to return to what is true.Spring is also a time when we step out.We move differently. We begin again. It is a season of resurrection.A reminder that new life is always possible—even after seasons that felt heavy, still, or uncertain. At the same time, I’ve been walking alongside others in a creative writing space, and I’m noticing something beautiful—when we clear space, creativity begins to flow. When we release, we make room. When we pause, we begin to hear again. When we reset, something new can rise.Scripture reminds us:“Let us lay aside every weight…” (Hebrews 12:1)And maybe that is the invitation of this season. To lay it down.To clear it out.To make room.Spring is not just a season. It is a reset. Not about becoming someone else—but about returning to ourselves.Returning to God.Returning to what matters most.
