When Fall Speaks .......

Fall Speaks …..

Yesterday was my first time worshiping in person at my church since late August. Walking through those doors felt like a homecoming — the music, the word, the hugs, the presence. It was a balm to my soul. And as I came back, I also entered into my favorite season — fall. The beauty of the tree in my front yard greets me each morning, reminding me to slow down, breathe, and take in what God is doing right here, right now.

Fall has always spoken to me. It’s a season that doesn’t rush; it eases in. It invites us to pay attention — to the gentle winds, the changing colors, the quiet wisdom of release.

The trees don’t cling to what’s fading; they let go with grace, trusting that new life will come again. There’s something holy about that. Something that mirrors the way God asks us to live — to loosen our grip, to rest in divine timing, to trust that even in shedding, there’s sacred renewal.

Fall also reminds me that change is not something to fear but something to honor. The shifting seasons are a part of God’s rhythm, showing us that transformation can be both tender and necessary. As the air cools and the days shorten, I sense God whispering, “You can rest now. You don’t have to carry everything.”

And as I think about rest, I can’t help but reflect on caregiving — another sacred rhythm. Whether caring for a loved one, a congregation, a classroom, or even ourselves, caregiving has its own seasons.

It’s full of holding and releasing, of pouring out and filling back up. It is holy work — quiet, steady, often unseen, yet deeply sacred.

This fall, I’m paying attention to what the trees are teaching me. To release what I no longer need. To find rest in the spaces God has made for renewal. And to remember that every season — even the ones that ask us to let go — carries the beauty of new beginnings.

This season of caregiving has been its own sacred journey, and it has allowed me to birth a book of reflections for those who care. Reflections to Nourish the Caregiver is a devotional collection offering encouragement, insight, and grace for anyone tending to the needs of others while learning to care for themselves.

As we approach November , National Family Caregivers Month, I invite you to explore my devotional and allow them to nourish your heart, Click the link below.
